My recap is a day late since we were traveling yesterday. What a week! So. Much. Food.
We traveled to Massachusetts with the twins (and Roxy!) to spend the Thanksgiving holiday and long weekend with family. We stayed at my parents’ house – which is always loaded with treats and good food, but it’s especially stuffed with goodies during holiday times. Every meal is a feast fit for royalty and there are homemade pies, cookies, breads, and more covering every surface in the house. Basically – it’s a place you go knowing you’re going to leave a few (or many) pounds heavier.
Our visit was such a busy one, packed with family time as well as a family gathering for the twins’ Christening — I felt like every day I was busy from the moment I woke up until my head hit the pillow at night. It made working out tough, but I’m glad to say I managed to squeeze in at least 20 minutes each day I was there. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing!
I did get a great 6 mile run in on Thanksgiving Day, I made sure to maximize calories burned in anticipation of a big meal. It was one of my best recent runs. I felt great, my pace and breathing were so steady, and I felt FAST! It was my first run with an average min/mile pace under 10 min/mile in a long time. I did run the first 4 miles with Chris who is much faster/taller than me so that probably helped, but still! I was really pumped up after that.
This week also kicked off my very first run streak! The Runners World Run Streak has a simple goal: Run at least one mile per day, every day, starting on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 24) and ending on New Year’s Day (Sunday, January 1).That makes for 39 days of consecutive running! I am really excited about this challenge – but a bit nervous too. It’s getting colder and I’m getting busier, so it will take some work to get it done. I’m confident though!
